My friend, comedian, and native El Pasoan Freddy Soto passed away Sunday, July 10th in his sleep in his home in Los Angeles. Freddy moved from El Paso to LA where he became Richard Pryor's personal limo driver to appearing on Comedy Central's Premium Blend and his very own Comedy Central 1/2 Hour Special. He recently starred in the major motion picture “Spanglish” and had just finished signing a network deal for his own sitcom with CBS.
If you have seen perform before and/or a fan of his comedy please visit his webpage and sign his guestbook.

Freddy was scheduled to perform in El Paso on August 20th to help raise money for El Paso Libraries. The show will continue with a special tribute to the life of Freddy Soto.

Last year I got a lead part in a local commercial for USA Title Loans. This year I decided to go for another and I'm proud to say I got another tv commercial under my belt. And this next one is going to be a real piece of shit! I didn't get the lead this time, but I managed to be an extra in another project and I got the secondary part in the actual commercial. The advertisement is for Star Western Wear here in El Paso, TX. We film next Wednesday at Romeo's Nightclub.
My character is a “tough, agressive” guy at a country bar who hits on some girls sitting with a guy. My character is then “frightened” by the guy when he stands up. The best part: This may be the only time you get to see me in tight jeans, black cowboy hat, and boots.
I told you it's shit!
But it's all the same. My rent is paid for this month and I don't have to do anything else for the month. I love my job(s). After being on the road for a whole month telling jokes it's nice to have something different to do.
